Who We Are Literacy Volunteers - Chippewa Valley is a 501C3 non-profit organization that was formed in 1986 with the goal to help adults achieve their personal goals through literacy. With the vision of training adult tutors to assist adult students, the organization began as Literacy Volunteers of America - Chippewa Valley and was affiliated and accredited with the national Literacy Volunteers of America. Since its origins, Literacy Volunteers has expanded to offering services in three counties; Eau Claire County, Chippewa County and Dunn County. Literacy Volunteers Literacy Volunteers received the 2006 National Family Literacy Advocacy Champion Award from the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL). In 2007, Literacy Volunteers received a State of Wisconsin Certificate of Commendation from Governor James Doyle and First Lady Jessica Doyle for 20 years of service to the community.
