Instructions for Blended (Online Combined with Hands-on) Training

  • The objective of this training is to minimize the amount of time needed by a volunteer in classroom time and maximize the amount of time the volunteer can spend in training at their own location and convenience. By combining online with hands-on training, the course allows volunteers to see teaching styles being modeled as well as network with other volunteers. Use of participation activities in the hands-on portion models the importance of multi-sensory approaches in teaching. Trainers also are given an opportunity to get to know the new volunteers for appropriate tutor and learner matching.

  • Tutors must attend both hands-on sessions to complete the training.

  • Tutors who do not have high speed online computer access or do not feel comfortable using the internet have the following options:

  • Contact Marge Beebe at 834-7206 to checkout a laptop provided by a grant from AT&T to assist those wanting to participate in the Blended Training

  • Schedule a time to meet with the trainer to get set up on a computer and do the courses

  •  Go to the public library or the tech school for computer access

  •  Register for a 16 hour hands-on training
