Dunn County offers 2 programs for adult students:
  • One-to-One Tutoring
  • Corrections Education in the Dunn County Jail

    One-to-One Tutoring

Volunteers participate in a 16 hour training that prepares them to be matched with an adult student. Pairs meet at least once per week for at least an hour in a public location such as the  Public Library, CVTC, a school or church. The volunteer tutor and adult student work on goals identified by the student such as improving their reading ability, English speaking, citizenship, reading to their children, learning to use the computer, improving their employment or perhaps getting a driver's license.

    Corrections Education

Dunn County offers GED instruction at the Dunn County Jail. Volunteer tutors assist inmates with their GED preparation and basic literacy skill needs. Classes are conducted on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 until 3:00. Parents Sharing Books is a program where tutors, board members and staff assist inmates in reading a book and taping it for their children. Book and tape are wrapped and sent to the children twice per year.

For more information about either tutoring or becoming a learner in any of the programs available in Dunn County, contact Laura Reisinger at 715-232-9143 or e-mail Laura.
